Direct from Starfleet Command:

El Capitan

Captain James T Kirk is on vacation in Yosemite and is climbing El Capitan. You just know he's gonna fall! Spock warns him about the "gravity" of his situation.... Kirk falls from close to the top of Yosemite. How high is El Capitan? Can you find a function for his height at time "t" ? What movie did the scenario come from?

The scenario came from the movie, 'Star Trek V : The Final Frontier'.
The height of the El Capitan is about a 3,000-foot (910m).

El Capitan is a 3,000-foot (910m) vertical rock formation in Yosemite National Park, located on the north side
of Yosemite Valley, near its western end.

As a challenge to himself in 2287, James T. Kirk attempted free climbing El Capitan solo, without any safety equipment;
an attempt which nearly resulted in his death. Fortunately, Spock saved Kirk's life with the help of his jet boots.

Okay... but Kirk didn't actually make it to the top. McCoy was following him with his rangefinder/field glasses. The readout in his binoculars will tell you Kirk's height when he fell. If you google something like "Kirk at Yosemite" you may just find the video with the scene where you can read the info in the viewfinder.

 I found the video with the scene where one guy giving some information about the first scene of the movie.
But, I could only hear,
'...seeking energy, strength, and toe and finger up 30.. thru(?) 3,000 almost 4,000 high in the air...'
 I could not really find how high he was when he fell.
